No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to obtain services at JL Speech Pathology. Your child may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) from your GP.
Please see our Funding Options page for more information on Medicare funding.
At JL Speech Pathology, we follow the NDIS Price Guide for all clients. From 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, each Speech Pathology session will cost $193.99.
JL Speech Pathology offers various funding options, including:
This cost will include 45 minutes of a Speech Pathology Clinic or Telehealth session, plus 15 minutes for session planning and other administrative tasks (e.g. preparing and sending home resources, invoicing).
Please note that assessment and Autism reports will incur additional costs - please reach out to our team if you'd like to find out more.
We absolutely do!
JL Speech Pathology supports both plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants. As we are not an NDIS-registered provider, we are unable to take on NDIA-managed participants.
When scheduling an appointment, please let us know if you'd like to find out more on how you can apply for the NDIS.
Whether your child needs a diagnosis or not depends on how old your child is. The NDIS specifies criteria that need to be met in order to be eligible for NDIS funding. If your child is aged under 7 years old, they do not require a diagnosis to be eligible for the Early Childhood Intervention Service (ECIS) under the NDIS, provided they demonstrate developmental delays in at least 2 areas. These areas may include: language, social skills, fine motor, and gross motor skills.
If your child is 7 years old or above, they require a diagnosis to continue accessing the NDIS. Note that these age brackets will be progressively changing over the next two years from 1 July 2023.
Your child may be eligible for a partial rebate through Medicare's Enhanced Primary Care program (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM). You may claim up to 5 sessions on Allied Health Services (e.g. Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology) during a calendar year.
Note we are not a bulk billing service. A gap is payable for each eligible speech pathology session, calculated by the difference between the amount rebated from Medicare, and the cost of our speech pathology service. Please contact your GP to determine whether your child is eligible for this plan.
We encourage parents to attend the assessment and subsequent speech therapy sessions. This enables parents to know exactly what occurs in the sessions and to be aware of any at home requirements. If you have other children in your care at the same time as your child’s session, please also bring them to the session! Your speech therapist will provide them with something to do or engage them in the session as well. Siblings can be great motivators and helpers for children.
If our speech pathologist schedules are full, we will place your child on a waitlist. Please make sure you fill details on our contact form so we can reach out to you to schedule in appointments when we have available vacancies.
